Welcome to the Department of European Studies

The Department of European Studies is one of the top centres of its kind within the European Union. It is the only one within the UK whose research work since 1987 has received the top award 5A, as a centre of international excellence, from the official Research Assessment Exercises. The Department is also the base for the University's History and Politics Subject Groups, with a wide range of teaching and research programmes in those disciplines.

We are an active research community, involving staff and students in the pursuirt of scholarship at the highest level. This is reflected on our strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
