Cartesian or Rectangular Configuration

The Cartesian Configuration provides for three linear axis of movement at right angles to each other. The modes of movement are similar to those on a milling machine, providing movement in the X, Y and Z axis. It can also be called Rectangular Confguration as its working range sweeps a rectangular volume.

Advantages

  1. Easily programmed and controlled movements
  2. Good accuracy
  3. Simple control system
  4. Fast operation
  5. Inherent stiff structure
  6. Large payload capacity
  7. Structural simplicity, giving good reliability

Applications

Applications include areas where linear movements of high accuracy are demanded eg manipulation of components through apertures ie fumace doors and machine openings.
